This volume of the Galicia para soñar collection provides a fascinating insight into the secrets of the Galician oral storytelling tradition from a literary perspective, analyzing aspects such as its structure or principal stylistic features. In addition, in the second part of this work, Xosé Manuel González Reboredo and Manuel Quintáns Suárez situate the role of oral narrative within its social context, in an attempt to discover the reasons why it has managed to survive the test of time and the function it fulfils within society.
Traditionally, these types of tales and fables in Galicia include references to the presence of a religious culture adapted to the needs of everyday life -family and the home, seen as a set of individuals and goods-, as well as topics related to the natural world. Finally, these two university lecturers include an extensive collection of some of the best-known tales, grouped together according to themes such as fantasy, religion, everyday life, spicy tales, animals and the urban and technological world.
