This work chronicles in novel format the sixteen days of the English attack on the city of A Coruña. The aim has been to combine historical facts with an entertaining tale.

In the eyes of the English, the Spanish Armada that had set sail from A Coruña in 1588, was a symbol of the power of Philip II. Its destruction would therefore bring honour and glory upon Queen Elizabeth and her subjects, in addition to depriving the Spanish Emperor of a strategic port for any possible future invasion plans. In the early hours of 4 May 1589, a large English fleet sailed into the bay of A Coruña with the intention of razing the city to the ground. However, they had failed to reckon with the courage and resistance of the local inhabitants, magnificently personified in the figure of their heroine, Maior Fernández de la Cámara Pita, María Pita.

This historical tale gives a day by day account of the events that took place in A Coruña from 4 to 19 May of 1589, from the sighting of the enemy fleet to the end of the siege by the English troops led by Drake and Norris.
