This work narrates in novel format the events of the final years of Porlier’s life. Following a glorious campaign against the French in northern Spain, Porlier was tried for his liberal thinking and was deported from Madrid to A Coruña. His strong ideological beliefs rubbed off on this city, the second most liberal in Spain, and where he made his 1815 declaration against Fernando VII’s absolute régime. The reader will delight in this tale which relates Porlier’s magnificent feat, which earned him a place of honour in the pantheon of heroic liberalism.
