The major cartographic base used for this work, coordinated by Arturo Revilla Bonnín, was the 1:200,000 scale map drawn up by SITGA, Galicia’s Territorial Information System, based on a combination of satellite and aerial photometry images.
The result is a work that offers a “bird’s eye view” of the geographical elements that we are accustomed to seeing on road and street maps. Natural phenomena (rivers, hills, lakes, Galicia’s sweeping coastline...), as well as the work of man (farming land, roads, cities and even villages of less than 100 inhabitants), are all to be found in this atlas, together with a detailed list of place names in order to facilitate the search and location of various geographical features, towns, reservoirs, etc.
Manuel Gallego Prieto, José González Joga, Francisco Fanego Riobó, Antonio Mosquera Vila, Roberto Blanco García, María Xosé Precedo López, Berta Román Díaz, Celso Cuñarro Taboada, Antonio Quintana García, Jorge García Bello, Juan Loureiro Grandal and Enrique Fernández-Xesta have all collaborated on this work.
