HEADQUARTERS. HERCULES BUILDING
Grupo Hércules Global has its headquarters in a building located in the urban space of A Coruña City, on the site where the old cinema Goya was placed. This is a multipurpose building, made up of two volumes on a common basis, one of them facing the Promenade and the other one, of smaller size and not so high, facing Cordelería Street. These elements are logically defined preserving and in harmony with the arrangement conditions for the façades of the block of houses as far as possible. From this way, this architectural building collection has consequently a detailed and distinguishing definition outside.
The building is arranged inside on the basis of a totally glazed, translucent and tasteful large room. It concentrates all the natural outside light, entering inside interweaving all the spaces in the building. Apart from being the headquarters of the Grupo, the building is the venue for Hércules de Ediciones work, at the façade facing the Promenade; and for the Fundación Rodríguez Iglesias, at that one facing Cordelería Street.
The ground floor, allocated to exhibitions and multipurpose activities of the Fundación, is conceived as a large open room, a point of reference, a space for vertical and horizontal communication, which perfectly defines the link among spaces in the urban area round the reference building, that is, the Promenade. On the basement there is also an Auditorium, the ”Sala Goya”, with a capacity of 200 people, allocated to exhibitions and activities of both, the Fundación and the Grupo, too.
Room inside the rest of the building is arranged on open floors, trying to get the structural elements placed along the perimeter, so that later multipurpose uses will not be conditioned. Elevators and stairs allow development, visualization and physical and visual interrelation among spaces at any moment. In the same way we have taken great care over the details of the bannisters, double-height spaces and other protections, in order to have the chance to enjoy and allow inner streams, being possible to appreciate from some spots all inner spaces either from top to bottom or from bottom to top. On these floors different activities of the Grupo Hércules Global and Hércules de Ediciones are carried out. On the third floor, besides, there is a magnificent library.
