“Mi abuelo rey de las pequeñas cosas”, published by Hércules de Ediciones in both Spanish and Galician, has been a finalist in the awards given annually by the Cuatrogatos Foundation in Miami. The work, by the Portuguese writer João Manuel Ribeiro, is illustrated by Catarina Pinto. The translation into Galician and Spanish was carried out by Ánxela Gracián.
Our book -and the other 11 finalists- has been highly valued for its literary, artistic and editorial quality during the jury’s work sessions and was opting for a position among the 20 winners until the last round of eliminations. The finalists are books with significant merits, whose reading the Foundation also recommends with enthusiasm.
The Cuatrogatos Foundation is a non-profit organization created in Miami, United States, by the writers Sergio Andricaín and Antonio Orlando Rodríguez to work in favor of culture and education. Among its main objectives are the research and study of the editorial production in Spanish dedicated to children and young readers.
The Cuatrogatos Foundation Award was established to contribute to the dissemination and reading of high quality books created by Ibero-American writers and illustrators.
Each year, after reading, analyzing and discussing a broad and representative sample of fiction books for children and young people, published in Spanish by small and large publishers in Latin America and the United States, a committee selects the winning titles of the Foundation Award Four cats. In this edition of the award, about 1,500 books published by 175 publishers from 19 countries were considered.
